Digital music recently experienced crucial changes: real time, interactivity, miniaturization and increased democratisation. This hybrid conference will expose the artistic and personal life of Atau Tanaka, american-japanese musician, artist and researcher. As a creator, he approached these evolutions by using recording, network and mobility technologies and provoked deep changes in the musical approach.
If the devices form and size change, and if the digital and the analog are brought back together, new DIY and Open Source trends challenge our identities and our reactions. From this statement, what does it mean today to be an artist, a composer, a performer, a user or a simple spectator, in these mutant musical and technologic landscape?
