Nowadays, many artworks reinvent cinema settings, multiplying screens, exploring new durations and intensities. By transforming the way the projection is organized, they set another role and activity for the spectator.
In what ways these interactive installations transform the film machine in its primary dimensions: architectonic, technological (image production, edition, transmission and distribution) and discursive (cutting, editing)? How do these experiences create new transformations or vanishing points related to the established representation model?
Our hypothesis is that the notion of device allows us to rethink cinema, avoiding technological, historical and aesthetic divisions and determinisms. Unlike predominant cinema, there are numerous films that reinvent cinema settings, multiplying screens, exploring new durations and intensities. They transform the way the projection is organized and set new relations with spectators.
