This conference is the story of an encounter… It will deal with poetry in different sign languages that are visual, but also involve movement. It will also deal with digital art and virtual reality. And it will mainly be about what can make us imagine the story of their possible encounter…
Julie Châteauvert is a Canadian researcher who mainly works on sign languages and movement. She is directing several research-creation projects combining linguistic analysis and study of movement and gestures, by studying literature in sign languages.
On one hand, she also draws on her experience with a professional artistic project in which she also works on the moving material of sign languages. On the other hand, she undertakes a project of popular education which aims at stimulating creation and the collaborative development of a literary criticism using social media.
As part of her international chair, she also presents a seminar about the criticism of narrative creation in sign languages, as well as a workshop of creation in French sign language and poetry translation, in October and November 2013.
Since 2013, she has been part of the CIGALE project (Capture et Interaction avec des Gestes Artistiques, Langagiers, et Expressifs), from the Labex Arts-H2H.
