Ana Gonçalves Magalhaes is a Brazilian curator and professor at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Sao Paulo, since 2008. Her research and curating work are related to the museum’s collection of modern art, as part of which she recently presented the exhibitions "Une Autre Collection du MAC USP" (2012) and "Classicisme, Réalisme, Avant-Garde : Peinture Italienne dans l’Entre-deux guerres” (2013).
Her research currently focuses on modern art institutionalization in Brazil, on Brazilian historiography of art as well as the creation of the two institutions of Sao Paulo : the Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art of the University.
As part of her international chair, she will present a series of seminars on modernism and modernity in Brazil.
