This symposium aims at questioning technique in its relation to history, society and politics, or to what Castoriadis called the "socialhistorique". Through this questioning, our precise objective is to define the conditions enabling the development of a critical theory of technique, adjusted to the current situation and its innovation, especially because of the increasing importance of the digital in current technical and social organizations.
To do so, this symposium will favor two approaches, both indivisible thus to be distinguished if we want to clarify what is at stake in renewing or updating the "criticism of technique" project, preliminary carried out by major authors such as Heidegger, Marcuse, Habermas or Ellul – if we keep to the contemporary age
Free admission subjected to availability.
