This play written by Matteo Bacchini was translated by a group of translation students specialized in theater called La langue du bourricot. These students come from the workshop Traduire le théâtre (Translating theater) of the Master in Translation T3L at University Paris 8, from the Department of Theater (licence or master degree) and other courses.

A man, a woman, in ceremony clothes. Newly-weds ? Brother and sister. But for Giulio and Sara Pecorari, citizens of Rome, the party ended up at the police station : here they are, facing the authorities to talk about the tragic event that ruined the wedding. What they display, over flashbacks and digressions, is their philosophy of life : violent prejudices and human relations, combination of poverty and consumption, clichés and confusions, with a "culture" instilled by commercial television and advertising slogans.

Looking like an Italian-style comedy or a reality show, Matteo Bacchini gives a portrayal and prosecution description, a damaged mythology of our society. Ludicrous and hilarious, the language of theater is an exhilarating weapong that denounces, in the name of Italian people, the problems that eat them up.

Matteo Bacchini is from Parma and studied philosophy and theater before working for press and advertisement. His playwright career begins in 2009. With his project of Roman trilogy, of which Au nom du peuple italien is the first part, he decided to show three snapshots of the city, three facets of society.
