Pascale Criton

Artist invited in 2013


Pascale Criton studied composition with Ivan Wyschnegradsky, Gérard Grisey and Jean-Etienne Marie. She is currently a researcher at LAM, team Lutherie Acoustique Musique (Lute-making Acoustics Music), Jean Le Rond d’Alembert Institute, UPMC, CNRS.

She is specialized in microtonal music pioneers and her research in musicology are the subject of publications and symposiums related to musical aesthetics. She explores microtones and their organization. Her writing uses scordatura (specific tuning for string instruments) combined with orchestra instruments and digital synthesis.

Artistic director of ART&FACT, Pascale Criton creates shows combining architecture, music and voices, amongst which: Promenade, "Voyager avec Le Corbusier" ordered by Louis Vuitton-La Quinzaine Littéraire, Villa Savoye (2009), Music in situ, "Le Corbusier et la couleur", Rendez-vous sur l’architecture à la Villa Savoye, Centre des Monuments Nationaux - France Culture (2009), Ausculter, écouter le son dans l’espace du Couvent de La Tourette, "Musique de l’Architecture", Centre Culturel de Rencontre du Couvent de la Tourette (2008), Seuils, CitéCulture - Fondation Deutsch de la Meurthe (2008), Voir-Entendre, Institut Finlandais en collaboration avec le Collège International de Philosophie (2004).
