Replay, restoration, re-creation...
Project leader: Clothilde Roullier
In collaboration with:
Centre national des arts plastiques
École nationale supérieure d’arts de Paris-Cergy
This collaborative project is based on a wish to examine how 3 institutions (the Archives nationales, the Centre national des arts plastiques and the Centre national de danse contemporaine d’Angers) seize the archives heritage - which they automatically produce of look for, somewhere or other -, through the critical analysis of researchers from the University Paris 8 and visual artists training at the ENSAPC.
Based on the idea of an unlikely symetry between archives and creation, we will attempt to understand how heritage, including aesthetic heritage, is worked through an intense selection; art and archives feed on their own destruction as they result from successive sortings and elections. The project precisely offers to cross the mirror of disparition to explore ways of performing artworks again.
