Thanks to a scenic, performative and scientific apparatus during several one-day conferences at the University of Paris 8, crossing in an original way artistic, literary and aesthetic practical knowledge from researchers, researchers-artists and artists from Europe and India, one of this project’s main issues will be redefining erasure/emergence of the notion of "tradition" through intercultural and transcultural approaches.
Performative arts gathered in an experimental seminar, both theoretical and practical, didactic and poetic, will shift boundaries stage/public, actor/spectator, researchers/artists, speech/languages, English-speaking/French-speaking cultures through the creation of a critical discourse, resulting from an analysis by artists and literature researchers. Dialogues between literary subjects and practitioners with their body languages will open up the research to confront Postcolonial Studies and their criticism of modernity. The aim is to give "tradition" a different place in the concept of "Intangible Heritage of Humanity" founded in 2002 by the Unesco.
A research methodology, which will result from those experimental, multilingual and transdisciplinary conferences, will be based on the historicity of the text in its creation process from language performativity and performance. As far as the issue of artistic class and decompartmentalizing, we will show that it enables the construction of a new kind of critical discourse, because category is necessarily linguistic it involves non verbal and goes from one language to another.
