This symposium aimed at questioned creation – particularly but not exclusively literary creation – in its relation to the way humans respond to situations of extreme violence. We tried to understand what is at stake during the performance of a creation. What is the meaning of performance ? This word can describe three different stages of a creation process : what happens in the time of speech, what occurs in the time of writing and finally, in the time of an artwork’s public production, that is to say in its enactment.
